My name is Daphne, and I'm a border collie!
| I came to Willey Farm from the
Sacramento City Animal Shelter in March 1996, when I was about 1 year old.
About 3 weeks later I came down with a very ugly case of canine distemper. After
4 intensive weeks of care, I recovered fully and have no residual problems! Dad
says I'm a very lucky dog as I got saved twice. |

| Everyone describes me as "sweet". I'm not as intense as some border collies, but
I do get lots of exercise living on the farm. I'd love to help more--especially
herding the horses--but I'm not allowed to go into their pastures. All I'm
allowed to herd is the dachsies, and they refuse to be herded! Claire and I do
play together a lot; she's my best friend, as well as my sister. |

 Mom and I go to agility classes at Starfleet Agility in Elk Grove every week. At first I
was very timid and didn't want to leave mom's side, but now I enjoy the
activity. I still have lots to learn though. (So does mom!) We're doing it just
for fun, not for serious competition. |
| Agility
is fun- some say "the most fun you can have with your dog". Most breeds are
represented at the classes, from little Clarabelle the miniature poodle to big
Luke, the doberman! Starfleet Agility is a great facility with a large covered
arena (used to be used for horse shows) and terrific instructors. For more

Do I Really Want a Border Collie?
Although Border Collies are wonderful dogs, they certainly aren't for everyone.
